REPORTING TO PARENTS
- Our school reports to parents on children’s progress throughout the year.
- Each term we have an open day for parents to come along and see our school in action, we send books home for parents to view, and invite parents along to set goals and discuss achievement.
- We have one written report at the end of the year.
SPECIAL ABILITIES
- Children identified as gifted or talented are catered for within our regular school programme.
- Our Cluster Extension Programme provides further opportunities for students who achieve outstanding results to participate in events in their areas of strength.
- We celebrate all successes.
SPECIAL LEARNING NEEDS
- Children who have special learning needs may require an individual education programme. We work together with family and support groups to offer the best possible education for these students.
HOMEWORK
- It is our policy to encourage every child to read each night.
- The Junior students have a school reading book most nights, and this book should be kept in their book bag to prevent damage, and returned to school the following day.
- Junior students also bring home a library book each week to share and discuss with their family members.
- Some Juniors may have spelling and basic facts tasks.
- The Senior students have a Library book to read each night for at least twenty minutes. Spelling and Basic Fact tasks also come home weekly, and Senior students have Friday spelling and basic facts tests. Senior students are also expected to keep up to date with Current Events and be able to discuss them with their classmates.
- Year Five and year Six students may be given additional research topics on Monday to share at school on Friday.
